Fortunately the shots were good and the deer were down anyway-but when shooting a mechanical the blades better open. I will use these Broadheads for the rest of my life. Turned out that I didn't think the whole Broadhead closing when I pulled it out of the ground thing through. After moving the brute to a better location I inspected his hide and sure enough there was a bigger entrance/ exit wound than I have ever seen before. I did a 10 yard circle and as I walked around a particular shrub I basically stumbled over the bear, dead as a doorknob. The only thought I has running through my mind was that maybe I had only hit one lung and that that damn malfunctioning Broadhead was going to turn my good shot into a long track. I tracked the blood trail to the last spot I could see the bear which was about 50 yards away from where he was shot and 40 yards down a old brush covered cutline. When I pulled the arrow out of the ground the expandable was closed and my immediate reaction was to curse the damned thing for not opening. It was buried about 4 inches into the ground covered in the tell tale bubbly blood all us archers hope to see. After waiting until everything calmed down (including myself) I climbed down the tree and went to my arrow first. There were 4 bears around the site when I took my shot and the shot it self started a bear fight and sent bears running in all directions so I was unable to hear a death moan. ![]() I was hunting from a treestand and the shot was about 25 yards. I hope to put one in an elk or moose next week!!įirst used the grim reaper a few years back to take a p&y black bear. However I did find it to be a little loud (no louder than say a slick trick) but I guess I was surprised as I expected less noise. ![]() Strong right to left wind I was actually aiming only about an inch in from the right edge if the target.Īll in all I was quite impressed with this broad head it flys great and really accurate. Then did some more trimming out at 60 as the wind came up. Sure looks a lot bigger than 1-3/8"Īfter checking and tweaking my sight (MBG Ascent) I moved out to 50 and trimmed a vane Kind of crazy but I switched my arrows to gold tip pro hunters as well as installed a ATR cable rod (anti torque rod) so a few factors, took some time but got my field points dialed in then I went and added my fully weighted quiver and shot some fixed blade broadheads made a few fine adjustments then switched over too Grim Reaper Razor Tips 100 grain 1-3/8" and I was very happy with the results.įirst shot was a 30 yards and I was instantly impressed with the cut. Well got out and did some shooting with my hunting setup for next week. ![]()
